OpenSea, one of the most prominent Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) marketplaces, suffers a phishing attack and loses about $2 million in NFTs.

According to Devin Finzer, the marketplace's CEO, it was a phishing attack, and they don't believe it was connected to the OpenSea website. As a result, he stated that the investigations were still ongoing.

The hackers were able to gain access to customers' wallets and steal numerous NFTs, according to Ethereum blockchain data. The hackers stole popular and pricey NFTs such as Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, and several more popular collections, according to the records.

The hack was rumored to be worth $200 million, however, according to Finzer, the attacker has $1.7 million in Ethereum in their wallet after selling some stolen NFTs.

Some of the stolen NFTs appear to have been returned as well. Except for the Bored Ape, the hacker returned all of the NFTs stolen from a wallet on one occasion.

With multiple competitors rising, the major marketplace's supremacy in the sector may be threatened if its security difficulties persist. Today, several marketplaces are available, including Binance and Coinbase. People appear to be fleeing to other competing platforms due to security concerns.

As a result, the CEO advised marketplace users to double-check that they are engaging with the site https://opensea.io in their browser when signing messages.

He also noted in his tweets that all affected users should DM @opensea_support on Twitter so that they can thoroughly investigate the matter.

However, because it has not been confirmed that the attack was carried out through the platform, all users must take precautions to keep their wallets secure at all times. It's possible that the attack came from somewhere else; always remember to disconnect your wallet from third-party websites after using them.
